BOX FRAME
Very popular for work that does not need to be mounted such as artworks with hand torn edges.
TRAY FRAME
Ideal for oil, acrylic and mixed media works on board or canvas.

For artworks such as prints, posters and photographs where no mount is required.

Good for artworks that need a mount such as works on paper.
OUR WORKHAND FINISHING
We are highly experienced in producing a range of hand-finishes, using a selection of paints, gesso, metal leaf and waxes. For our paint finishes we create individual colours tailored to complement tones in the artwork, using artist-grade acrylic or earth-pigment paints.
Gesso, a traditional chalk-based preparation, is a particular speciality. We love the fact that it produces a beautiful, smooth or textured finish, which makes a frame look almost like marble.
Gesso
Gesso is a traditional chalk-based preparation dating back to the Egyptian times. It is a particular speciality of ours as it creates such a beautiful, smooth or textured finish depending on how we work it. We produce both picture frames and wonderful oversized mirrors using gesso.
Crackled Gesso
Our gesso recipe is carefully applied to the plaster and fabric. We let it dry slowly and then hand crackle to create a lovely antique finish.
Gesso Tints
To further enhance the distressed look we apply earth pigments.
Hand Painting
We only use artist grade or earth pigment paints for our hand painting as we feel it gives us the best tones and depth of colour which will last. We love rich earthy paint tones which complement many artworks framing them subtly and beautifully without taking centre stage.
Metal Leafing (gilding)
We apply all our metal leafing whether gold or silver to a gesso base. It can then be distressed or highly polished.
Final Finishes
The final layer in the process. The finishes we apply by hand include beeswax, matt varnish, shellac or lacquered finishes.
ART SERVICES
Canvas Stretching
We offer a canvas stretching service which can be framed if needed. If you would like your canvas framed after being stretched, there are a variety of framing styles to choose from, including tray profiles for a contemporary finish.
Art & Frame Restoration
We provide an art and frame restoration service for oil and mixed media paintings on board or canvas.
Re-framing
Re-framing is a popular service for damaged frames or for refreshing artworks.
Conservation Framing
Our conservation service uses a selection of acid -free conservation and museum grade mount board and glass.
